Vine: Blogging for Advertisement

Vine is a popular networking site known to millions of of members, where people create six second videos for peoples enjoyment and in some cases for updating people about their lives, and as well as visually enjoy others videos at the same time.On this networking site, many people have had so much success in entertaining the millions of viewers, that they have become internet sensations, some by just blogging about their daily lives.

One such 'sensation' is popular Viner, Logan Paul. The 20 year old has over 8 million followers to date. Along with Logan, who lives with his brother Jake, who is also gaining success on Vine, live in L.A. on 'Vine Street' with a number of other popular Viners, such as King Bach, Rudy Mancuso, and Amanda Cerny as well as many others
Together, these aspiring stars have been scouted by major companies such as Verizon, McDonalds and more. As Van Luyn (2015) discussed in her Lecture, blogging (or Vining) can be used as a sort of 'Self-Expression', which in these cases, resulted in fame. These Stars promote companies products, and with the help from their fellow Viner friends, get even more promotion and recognition by revining of their original video.

These Viners, through their internet fame, have gained a sort of power in the way they can manipulate people into buying and getting excited about certain things. And through this, they appear to a much broader audience through what they post, as in being appropriate for all age groups. Self-Surveillance, as Turkle (1995) discussed, comes from when the internet and blogs were first introduced and the way that as soon as you post something on the internet, it's there forever.
